Job Title: Medical Assistant – Orthopedic Surgery Clinic

Reports To: Orthopedic Surgeon (MD) and Physician Assistant (PA)
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced orthopedic surgery clinic. This role supports one orthopedic surgeon (MD) and one physician assistant (PA) in delivering high-quality care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions. The ideal candidate thrives in a busy clinical environment, demonstrates excellent multitasking skills, and maintains a professional and compassionate demeanor at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Room patients efficiently and obtain vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist the MD and PA during office visits for casting, aspirations, etc.
- Apply and remove casts, splints, braces, and durable medical equipment (DME) as directed
- Perform wound care and dressing changes
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and prepared between patients
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Schedule surgeries and coordinate labs/EKG/record retrieval for procedures.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and imaging studies
- Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up care
- Answer phones, triage patient concerns, and relay messages to providers
- Manage patient flow to minimize wait times and optimize clinic efficiency
Patient Care & Communication:
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, post-operative care, and use of orthopedic devices
- Provide clear pre- and post-procedure instructions
- Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a clinical setting; orthopedic experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of orthopedic terminology, procedures, and equipment is a plus
- Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer skills

- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a high-volume setting

- Ability to work collaboratively with a small clinical team
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
- Willing to provide on the job training for all duties, even if you have not worked in an orthopedic setting before.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods
- Frequent lifting, positioning, and assisting patients.
- Manual dexterity for clinical tasks such as casting
