Job Description

JOB DUTIES

• Escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Assesses vital signs accurately alerting providers to any abnormalities.
• Reviews medications accurately and provides documentation in chart of current medication list and dosing.
• Cleans and restocks exam rooms.
• Organizes patient charts for next day to include researching and obtaining patient medical information in compliance with HIPPAA laws.
• Provides verbal education as well as educational materials to patients and families.
• Communicates information to physician to maintain continuity of care and alerts physician of any new developments in regards to his/her patient.
• Performs patient care actions consistent with established policies and procedures within scope of practice and under the direction of physician and nurse.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and is compliant with the HIPAA regulations.
• Performs blood draws as ordered utilizing clean technique and universal safety precautions.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Education Requirements
• High School Diploma/GED required
• A certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant Program
• Medical terminology and pharmacology background preferred.
• Experience :
• Prior nurse aide/nurse assistant work experience in clinic or hospital preferred
