Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
- Support physicians with clinical tasks such as administering medications, performing basic X-ray imaging, or assisting with minor procedures in outpatient or hospital settings.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently by documenting patient information, updating charts, and coding diagnoses using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests or specimen collection while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, coordinating appointment scheduling, and facilitating smooth communication between patients and healthcare teams.
- Support hospital medicine units or specialized clinics such as dermatology, geriatrics, or internal medicine with appropriate clinical duties aligned with your experience level.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support accurate clinical documentation and procedures.
- Experience working within hospital environments—particularly Level I or Level II trauma centers—and familiarity with emergency medicine protocols is highly valued.
- Proficiency in EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and billing purposes.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking X-rays, administering medications safely, and monitoring vital signs in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or medical-surgical units.
- Knowledge of ICD coding practices for accurate diagnosis documentation and billing processes.
- Experience supporting urgent care clinics or emergency departments with fast-paced decision-making and multitasking skills.
