Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant
Reports To: Lead MA

About the Role
At WELS Care, we believe wound care is about restoring lives, not just treating wounds. As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in that mission by meeting patients where they are—whether that’s in their home, a care facility, or one of our clinic locations.

You’ll work alongside our providers delivering hands-on care across all three settings, making each day a little different from the last. This is not a traditional clinic-only role and requires flexibility, independence, and strong clinical awareness in varying environments.

No matter the location, our expectation is simple: every patient receives the highest standard of care.

Clinical Responsibilities
You’ll work alongside our providers to deliver hands-on patient care, including:

  • Taking basic medical histories and preparing patients for examinations
  • Assisting providers during visits across home, facility, and clinic settings
  • Performing dressing changes and coordinating with the care team
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Transmitting prescriptions as directed
  • Sterilizing instruments and maintaining a safe clinical environment

Administrative Responsibilities
You’ll also help keep our operations running smoothly by:

  • Scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records
  • Answering phones and managing patient communications
  • Coordinating referrals, imaging, and other patient needs
  • Maintaining supply inventory and utilizing clinical software systems

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CNA or CMA certification preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A compassionate, patient-first approach
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, and stay flexible in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills and accountability
  • Commitment to continuous learning and growth

Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks. Strong vision abilities are needed, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.

Work Environment
This is a community-based role requiring daily travel between patient homes, care facilities, and clinic locations based on provider schedules. Reliable transportation and willingness to drive between visits is required.

You must be comfortable working in non-traditional clinical environments while maintaining professionalism, strong infection prevention practices, and consistent clinical standards across all settings.

WELS Care is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. Duties and responsibilities may be adjusted at any time based on the needs of the organization.
