Medical Assistant

Job Overview
Arthur Direct Care Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bilingual Plebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both English and Spanish, with a strong ability to communicate with diverse patient populations. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative duties, ensuring a smooth and efficient healthcare experience for our patients.

We are looking for someone proactive, with excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills. The fast-paced environment requires adaptability to changing workflows while maintaining a high standard of care.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Perform phlebotomy and administer electrocardiograms (EKGs).
  • Gather and document detailed medical histories.
  • Clearly explain treatment procedures to ensure patient understanding and comfort.
  • Prepare patients for medical examinations and assist physicians during the process.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and conduct basic lab tests.
  • Prepare and administer medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections.
  • Facilitate prescription refills as directed by healthcare providers.

Administrative Duties:

  • Utilize computer applications, including electronic medical records (EMR), to enhance administrative tasks and workflows.
  • Check in and Check out patients
  • Schedule appointments
  • Answer telephone inquiries and warmly welcome patients upon arrival.
  • Perform insurance eligibility and benefits checks.
  • Update and file medical records, complete insurance forms, and manage appointment schedules efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Certification as a Phlebotomist, Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Minimum 6 months - 1 year of experience in a clinical setting (preferred).
  • Training in phlebotomy
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures.
  • Proficiency in medical history-taking and patient documentation.
  • Competence in collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
  • Ability to perform basic laboratory tests following standard protocols.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Insurance verification and preauthorization experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish with the ability to translate for patients (preferred).

Required Certification/Education:

  • Certified Phlebotomist, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (Preferred).

Experience:

  • 6 months - 1 Year (Preferred).
