Medical Assistant

Job Summary: The Medical Assistant will support clinic operations by preparing exam rooms, assisting with patient flow, collecting and documenting vital signs and medical histories, and performing ordered diagnostic procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or GED
  • Certifications:
    • BLS
  • Experience:
    • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant training program (CAAHEP, ABHES, CCBMA, ACCSC, ACICS, ACCET, or ACCJC), or be a graduate of formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces

U.S. Citizenship is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
  • Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
  • Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
  • Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
  • Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
  • Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released
  • Perform various administrative functions as directed, such as answering telephones and transcribing accurate messages, assisting with patient check-in, assisting with scheduling appointments, placing appointment reminder telephone calls. Administrative duties are in addition to clinical duties. Administrative duties will be no more than 20% of all workloads.

Work Environment & Schedule: Onsite, Monday to Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm.

Compensation & Benefits: Up to $28.57 per hour + $4.93 H&W

Physical requirements: Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 25–50 pounds, and perform frequent bending, reaching, and manual tasks such as injections, phlebotomy, and data entry. Must have good vision, hearing, and dexterity to safely assist patients, handle clinical equipment, and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
