POSITION SUMMARY FLSA:
Non-Exempt Medical Assistants will create a positive health experience for patients at California Head & Neck Specialists. Medical Assistants primarily provide administrative support to providers and patients to ensure the smooth operation of assigned offices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Interview patients and document basic medical history
● Organize and schedule appointments
● Update and file medical records and insurance reports
● Arrange pre-authorization for service visits
● Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services
● Check with patients and type patients’ charts
● Assist during medical examinations/procedures
● Produce and distribute correspondence, faxes, and forms
● Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
● Travel to clinics as directed based on business needs
● Perform all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Completion of a medical assistant training program at an accredited institution
● Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) designation
● Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
● Minimum of one year of experience working in a medical practice front office
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
● Knowledge of outpatient clinic center procedures
● Ability to effectively guide and assist others, individually and in groups
● Knowledge of principles and processes for providing patient and personal medical services, including patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction
● Possession of strong organizational skills, including the ability to establish priorities and timelines, meet deadlines, and set effective courses of action
● Fluent English verbal and written communication skills including grammar, spelling, and punctuation appropriate to the position
● Knowledge of free-standing ambulatory surgery center procedures and operating instructions for making appointments, assembling patient medical records, recording test results, relaying information regarding patient’s condition, and compiling and submitting data on patients treated
● Knowledge of the spelling and meaning of commonly used terminology of general medicine to accurately record results of tests and file medical reports according to alpha, numeric or subject matter headings
● Skill in interpersonal communications, including tact, courtesy, diplomacy, and confidentiality; ability to effectively resolve disagreements with others encountered in the course of work
● Skill in accurately relaying patients’ accounts of medical complaint(s) to medical staff team members involved in treating patients
● Skill in using logic and reasoning effectively to arrive at solutions and conclusions or various approaches to issues
● Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and to accept direction on given assignments
● Knowledge of computers and software applications relevant to the position, including word processing, email, and electronic medical records (EMR)
● Knowledge of office procedures, including the maintenance of files and records
● If applicable to the position, fluent Spanish verbal and written communication skills including grammar, spelling, and punctuation appropriate to the position, and bilingual English-Spanish communication skills
Pay: $23.50 - $28.08 per hour
