Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician
Department: Clinical Services
Reports To: Clinical Manager / Supervisor
Position Summary
The Ophthalmic Technician plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by assisting ophthalmologists with clinical procedures, diagnostic testing, and patient education. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by obtaining and documenting medical and ocular histories
- Perform preliminary eye testing, including but not limited to:
- Visual acuity testing
- Refraction (as trained)
- Tonometry
- Pupillary assessment
- Extraocular muscle testing
- Perform diagnostic testing as ordered, such as:
- OCT
- Visual fields
- Fundus photography
- Topography (as applicable)
- Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures
- Accurately document findings in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Educate patients on procedures, medications, and follow-up care
- Administer eye drops and medications per physician direction
- Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms
- Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines
- Communicate effectively with providers, staff, and patients
- Support clinic flow by managing patient volume efficiently
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support practice operations

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $23.00 per hour
