Job Summary
Join our specialized vascular surgery team as a Medical Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients with vascular conditions. This position supports vascular surgeons and advanced practice providers in both clinical and administrative functions, ensuring efficient office operations and excellent patient outcomes. You will work closely with patients undergoing evaluation and treatment for conditions such as peripheral artery disease, venous insufficiency, aneurysms, and dialysis access management. Your professionalism, attention to detail, and compassionate approach will help create a seamless and supportive experience for every patient.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake, including obtaining detailed medical histories focused on vascular conditions and recording vital signs such as blood pressure (including bilateral readings when needed), pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms with appropriate instruments and sterile supplies for vascular evaluations and in-office procedures.
- Support providers during vascular procedures, including wound care, suture removal, dressing changes, and assistance with minor surgical or endovascular treatments.
- Perform and/or assist with diagnostic testing such as Doppler studies, ankle-brachial index (ABI) measurements, and ultrasound preparation (if trained).
- Accurately document patient encounters in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including relevant vascular history, procedure notes, and appropriate coding.
- Monitor and manage patients with chronic wounds, ulcers, or post-operative vascular conditions, ensuring proper follow-up care and education.
- Coordinate patient flow by scheduling consultations, imaging studies, procedures, and post-operative visits.
- Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure instructions, wound care, compression therapy, and lifestyle modifications related to vascular health.
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols, especially during in-office vascular procedures.
- Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and coordination of care with hospitals, imaging centers, and specialty providers.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, or surgical specialty practice preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, particularly related to the vascular system.
- Experience with EHR systems and accurate clinical documentation.
- Ability to perform clinical skills such as vital signs, wound care, specimen collection, and assisting with minor surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with vascular diagnostic tools (e.g., Doppler, ABI) is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced specialty practice.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients with chronic and complex conditions.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Understanding of sterile techniques and infection control standards in a procedural setting
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
