Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical procedures, patient care, and medical administrative support, with experience across various medical specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient services within a dynamic healthcare environment, supporting physicians and enhancing patient experiences through compassionate care and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
  • Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to support clinical assessments.
  • Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments in compliance with safety standards.
  • Support physicians during procedures by handing instruments, preparing supplies, and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient information, treatment plans, and ICD coding for billing purposes.
  • Administer medications and injections following established protocols while monitoring patient responses.
  • Conduct basic diagnostic procedures such as X-ray imaging or assisting with laboratory tests when required.
  • Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring a positive experience throughout outpatient or inpatient visits.
  • Support emergency medicine teams in Level I or Level II trauma centers by assisting with rapid assessments and critical interventions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in specialized areas such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), geriatrics, or medical-surgical units to deliver comprehensive care.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to diverse clinical settings.
  • Proven experience in, medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics;
  • Familiarity with ICD coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
  • Strong understanding of medical-procedures, internal medicine practices, and emergency medicine protocols.
  • Proficiency in operating EHR systems and other healthcare software platforms for documentation and scheduling.
  • Ability to perform intake assessments, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic diagnostic tests.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages—including geriatrics—and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
