Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with patient intake procedures to ensure accurate records.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments, including medication administration.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient information accurately and promptly.
- Support medical administrative tasks such as ICD coding for diagnoses, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow.
- Perform basic physiology and anatomy assessments to aid in diagnosis or treatment planning in various specialties like geriatrics or internal medicine.
- Conduct in-clinic laboratory procedures or assist with imaging techniques in outpatient or hospital settings.
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols including Basic Life Support (BLS) standards and infection control guidelines.
- Support inpatient care activities within hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers when needed.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical procedures across multiple specialties including dermatology, urgent care, emergency medicine, ICU (PICU), medical-surgical units, geriatrics, and internal medicine.
- Proven experience working in hospital environments with Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred.
- Strong background in outpatient clinics with familiarity in clinic workflows and patient service excellence.
- Skilled in using EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, billing support, and ICD coding accuracy.
- Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and support medication administration processes safely.
- Experience with X-ray support or radiology procedures is a plus; familiarity with hospital experience including OR or inpatient units is advantageous.
- Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols and Level I trauma center operations enhances readiness for high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills to provide compassionate patient service while collaborating effectively with healthcare teams across various settings.
