JOB DESCRIPTION: MEDICAL ASSISTANT
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a versatile and motivated Medical Assistant to join our dynamic internal medicine practice, which operates as a direct primary care practice and also serves Medicare Advantage and traditional fee for service patients. The Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support to the physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner and wound care nurse. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including advanced clinical testing, wound care support, patient education, care coordination, and community outreach. The Medical Assistant will work at our Pompano, Plantation, or Hollywood locations as needed and must be willing to perform home visits for specific services, with additional compensation provided for these visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist providers with patient care, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, and preparing for examinations and procedures.
- Perform neurocognitive testing, pulmonary function tests, ankle-brachial index (ABI) assessments, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
- Support wound care nurse with dressing changes and wound care procedures.
- Dispense medications from the office pharmacy in accordance with protocols.
- Assist with preparing supplies for IV vitamin infusions and monitoring patients during the procedure. Also participate in other wellness activities offered by the clinic.
- Provide patient education on disease management, medication use, and wellness initiatives.
- Manage prescription refills and assist with medication reconciliation.
- Participate in community outreach and patient recruitment efforts, promoting the clinic’s service lines.
- Conduct remote blood pressure monitoring and assist with other care coordination activities for patients.
- Perform home visits for blood draws, EKGs, and neurocognitive assessments as needed; eligible for incentive-based compensation for these visits.
- Rotate between Pompano, Plantation, and Hollywood locations based on operational needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Uphold infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards at all times.
Skill Requirements
- Phlebotomy certification and experience required.
- Experience in internal medicine, wound care, or primary care settings preferred.
- Proficient in performing EKGs, pulmonary function tests, ABI, and neurocognitive assessments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable with technology, EHR systems, and remote patient monitoring tools.
- Willingness to travel between clinic locations and perform home visits as needed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Being bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) is a plus.
- Sales or patient recruitment experience is an advantage.

- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Some weekends as applicable
EDUCATION
- A high school diploma or GED (required)
- Associate Degree (preferred)
EXPERIENCE: 3 years as a medical assistant (required)
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) (preferred)
LANGUAGE: English, Bilingual & Trilingual (English, Spanish & Creole) - preferred
