As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to ensure efficient operation of the La Puente Medical Clinic. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
Primary Location: Friends of Family Health Center - La Puente
Primary Departments: Women's Health, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients while collecting and documenting medical histories, demographic information, and insurance details
- Coordinate patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, referrals, and follow-up visits to support efficient daily operations
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR), patient charts, insurance documentation, and other confidential files in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Process laboratory requests, hospital admissions, referrals, and related administrative paperwork
- Verify and update patient information while ensuring accurate chart preparation and documentation for providers
- Support physicians and clinical staff during patient examinations and procedures as needed
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, forms, faxes, and other office communications
- Assist with medical billing tasks, including payment collection, accounts receivable/payable, and maintaining financial records
- Prepare, clean, and stock treatment rooms while ensuring medical instruments and supplies are properly maintained
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional communication with patients, providers, and external partners
- Perform general administrative and back-office duties to support smooth clinic operations
Qualifications
- Certified or Licensed Medical Assistants only
- 1 year experience preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures (OCHIN EPIC Systems)
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
