We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant with expertise in chiropractic care, coding, and billing to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine clinical support with medical coding and billing responsibilities, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate financial documentation. You will play a vital role in supporting chiropractors by managing medical records, coding diagnoses and procedures, and handling billing processes efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assist chiropractors during patient examinations and treatments, ensuring a seamless clinical workflow
- Prepare and update patient medical records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Assign appropriate diagnosis codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to ensure precise documentation of medical conditions
- Code procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for billing purposes
- Manage medical billing processes, including submitting claims, following up on unpaid claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement
- Handle medical collections by communicating with insurance companies and patients regarding outstanding balances
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance and accuracy
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably within chiropractic or outpatient clinics
- Strong understanding of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, including DRG classifications for hospital-based billing
- Proven skills in medical billing, collections, and insurance claim processing
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for documentation and coding purposes
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare compliance standards
- Experience with medical coding audits and adherence to regulatory guidelines is a plus
