Medical Assistant (Clinical and Front Desk)

Job Posting: Medical Assistant (Clinical & Front Desk) – Palmer Family Medicine, PCLocation: Palmer, Alaska (258 South Alaska Street)
Employment Type: Full-Time, would consider a part time
Practice: Small, independent family medicine clinic serving the Mat-Su Valley community. Join Our Close-Knit Team at Palmer Family Medicine, PC! We're a small, patient-centered family medicine practice led by Dr. Jason W. Brooks, where everyone knows our patients (and each other) by name. We provide comprehensive care—from pediatrics and gynecology to preventive medicine, minor procedures, and sports medicine—in a supportive, low-drama environment with no corporate red tape. Because we're a small clinic, flexibility is key. We're looking for a versatile Medical Assistant who's excited to handle both clinical duties (back office) and front desk responsibilities (check-in, scheduling, phone triage, patient greetings). You'll wear multiple hats, contribute directly to smooth daily operations, and build real relationships with our families in the beautiful Mat-Su Valley. Key Responsibilities:

  • Room patients, take vitals, obtain patient histories, and prepare for provider exams
  • Perform EKGs, blood draws (phlebotomy), immunizations/injections, and assist with minor procedures
  • Manage front desk tasks: Check patients in/out, schedule appointments, handle phone calls, update records
  • Document accurately in our eClinicalWorks EMR system
  • Maintain exam rooms, sterilization, supplies, and a welcoming environment
  • Jump in wherever needed—small team means everyone pitches in!

What We're Looking For:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred; certification strongly encouraged
  • Proficiency (or strong willingness to quickly master) in EKGs, blood draws, vitals, patient histories, and immunizations
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks EMR is a big plus (we'll train if you're a fast learner)
  • Excellent people skills, quick wit, positive attitude, and "mad" interpersonal abilities—these matter more than perfection in every skill!
  • Reliable, flexible, and team-oriented—comfortable in a fast-paced but fun small-clinic setting
  • Prior front desk or customer service experience is helpful but not required

If you bring energy, empathy, and a can-do spirit, we can train the rest. We're happy to invest in the right person who wants to grow with our practice. Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly pay: $22–$26 per hour DOE (based on certification, experience, and skills—aligns with current Palmer/Mat-Su market rates for versatile MAs)
  • Benefits package including paid time off and 401K employer match.
  • No nights or weekends—enjoy work-life balance in Alaska's stunning outdoors (hiking, fishing, skiing just minutes away!)
  • Opportunity for growth in a stable, independent practice

Why Palmer Family Medicine?
