Position Overview: The Medical Assistant for Dermatology at Northeast Tarrant Dermatology will be an integral part of our practice, providing crucial support in both clinical and administrative capacities. This role involves assisting dermatologists with patient care, managing office tasks, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. Key Responsibilities: Dermatology Medical Assistant
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking medical histories
- Assist dermatologists during procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and other dermatological treatments.
- Educate patients on skin care, treatment plans, and preventive measures.
- Administer medications, injections, and topical treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as wound care, dressing changes, and applying topical treatments.
- Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
- Accurately document patient records and treatment plans.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, optimizing scheduling and minimizing wait times.
- Process patient intake forms and ensure all required paperwork is completed and filed appropriately.
- Handle patient inquiries, providing information about dermatological procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and reorder as needed.
- Perform general office tasks, including answering phones, managing emails, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications: Dermatology Medical Assistant
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assisting program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Previous experience in dermatology or a related medical field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dermatological conditions, treatments, and procedures is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and standard office software.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving medical equipment.
