Medical Assistant - East Location

Indiana Nephrology & Internal Medicine, P.C. is currently seeking a Medical Assistant to work at our East office prepared to meet the challenge of providing the best quality of patient care. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for supporting the physicians with a range of clinical and administrative tasks. Responsibilities will be varied, and candidates must be flexible problem solvers and collaborative team players who are eager to learn as well as tackle problems.

MA Clinical Duties/Back Office:

Rooming patients, medication review, lab result review, patient call backs, prior authorizations, office visit prep, data entry, RX refills and BP checks. Must be able to manage answering phones.

MA Clerical Duties/Cross over Front Office:

Checking patients in/out, scheduling appointments, collecting co-payments, and scanning.

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Answer all incoming calls.
  • Responsible for assigned providers clinic prep, lab results and call backs.
  • Rooming Patients (review medications and obtain vitals)
  • Triage
  • Welcome all patients, exhibiting excellent customer service skills.
  • Verify insurance & personal information with patients.
  • Collect co-payments, pre-payments, account balances.
  • Ensure that chart/patient is HIPAA compliant.
  • Verify proper referrals are completed and documented for patient visit.
  • Monitor office flow to ensure patients are taken care of promptly.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and any required diagnostic testing
  • Always cover the reception area during normal business hours.
  • Medication and Radiology Authorizations
  • Data Entry, scanning and faxing.
  • Charting and documentation
  • Travel to surrounding area satellite offices to provide support if needed.

Medical Assistant Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or medical assisting course.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant; MA Certification is a plus.
  • Nephrology clinic experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in an EMR – preferably Epic/Acumen
  • 1 + years of experience working in a healthcare practice, medical office, or hospital.
  • Must be an effective communicator with excellent grammar and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation featuring an empathetic, compassionate, and professional demeanor with each interaction.
  • Demonstrated experience as a motivated and dedicated team member with a stable work history.
  • A valid driver's license required.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to pass a background check required.
  • Ability to interact with physicians, providers, and patients with a high level of professional in a very fast paced environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong Critical Thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
