Medical Assistant for In Office Patient Transport

Job Description: Transport Medical Assistant (in-office)

Job Summary: We are a leader in interventional pain management across the valley with a mission to provide effective and innovative pain management solutions to all of our patients.

We are looking for a full time In-Office Patient Transport MA to join our procedure team and float to 3 valley area clinics to assist with in-office pain procedures.

This role is responsible for calling patients back for pre-op, assisting the RN with vitals & paperwork as well as post-op care that may include, but is not limited to, paperwork prep, removing IV ports, bandaging patients, taking vitals and transporting/escorting the patient from the post-op room to their vehicles following their in-office procedures.

Most patients are sedated during procedure and require to be wheeled out in a wheelchair and some are able to walk themselves, but all require a trained medical professional to escort them during this transit, to ensure their safety to their driver to take them home.

Attention to detail is extremely important in this role as well the ability to work both as a team and independently, the ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and the ability to work with high volumes of patients.

The schedule is 7:30am-3:30pm, 5 days per week with no weekend shifts OR we can also discuss an option of 6:30am-5pm days per week with Mondays and weekends off. Our providers travel to different locations each day, so the schedule will be set, but will be in a different location each day. Locations are spread throughout Phoenix (X1 per week), Mesa (X1 per week) & Chandler (X1 per week) + 1-2 days of admin/prep or helping other offices (can discuss details in interview) so must be willing to travel to all locations and a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Recognizes and assumes responsibility for reporting patient care or safety concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Initiates a friendly but respectful relationship with patients and demonstrates responsiveness to patient's physical, psychological and social needs.
  • Makes judgments with regards to patient care and operational flow based on established policies and guidelines
  • Collaborates and effectively communicates with physicians, RN’s, and other health care Daily provides a safe, clean and well-stocked department.
  • Escorting patients to the pre-op room before the procedure, as well as to their car/driver after the procedure ends.
  • Assist RN with vitals and removing IV's as necessary/instructed.
  • Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of any delays that may affect operational work flow.
  • Assists with patient resupply of equipment

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Certificate/Diploma in medical assisting **good for new grads**
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records System(s)
  • Patient, courteous, and tactful behavior.
  • Neat and orderly in work and appearance.
  • You may come in contact with medications and therefore must demonstrate understanding of proper medication management and storage as well as maintaining a secure medication environment.
  • CPR certification; can be actively working toward but this will be required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to be on your feet the majority of your shift.
  • Spanish speaker is a plus, but not required.

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $20-$23 per hour
