We are seeking an experienced medical assistant ( experience in pediatrics preferred), to join our dynamic outpatient pediatric office. The ideal candidate will assist physicians and nurse practitioners with patient care, ensuring smooth operations and excellent patient experiences. This role involves both clinical and administrative duties in a family-friendly environment, catering primarily to the care of infants, children, and adolescents.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies are available for pediatric exams.
- Take and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc.).
- Assist in pediatric procedures such as vaccinations and specimen collection.
- Administer vaccinations, medications and injections as directed by the provider.
- Perform hearing and vision screenings, developmental assessments, and other age-appropriate tests.
- Comfort and assist children during examinations, ensuring a child-friendly environment.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) of pediatric patients.
- Provide patient education to parents/guardians regarding treatment plans, medications, and routine care instructions.
Administrative Duties:
- Greet and check-in patients, verifying patient information and collecting necessary documentation.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and follow-up with appointment reminders.
- Answer phone calls, triage patient questions, and relay messages to the medical team.
- Assist with insurance verification, billing, and collecting co-pays.
- Manage and order office and medical supplies, ensuring an organized work environment.
Patient Interaction:
- Create a welcoming and comforting atmosphere for pediatric patients and their families.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to explain procedures and address any concerns.
- Build rapport with patients, contributing to a positive healthcare experience for children and their families.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Previous experience in a pediatric setting is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and parents.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry small children and equipment as needed.
- Manual dexterity for handling medical instruments and equipment.
