Medical Assistant /Front Desk - Spanish and English a MUST

IF YOU ARE: fluent in English/Spanish, extremely well organized, have outstanding patient service, have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, computer skills, a minimum of 5 years as an MA, and are ready to push your career to a new level, this position is for you.

Emerson Clinical Research Institute (ECRI). A network of research sites focused on working with community-based clinics in the D.C, VA, and MD area. We conduct phase II-IV clinical research studies in community clinics. These clinics focus on providing health care services to minority populations that don't otherwise have access to research opportunities. Our studies are industry-sponsored research protocols for adults and pediatric patients (study participants).

*This position is looking for an individual who has a minimum of 2 years of experience in the medical field. As this is more than a typical MA position, we are looking to train an individual in Clinical Research.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Full Time. with some occasional weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

The position is responsible and accountable for:

Job Duties include the following:

  • Front desk, assist in conducting phone screening of all incoming call for our
  • Answer Spanish incoming calls.
  • Assist in scheduling qualified participants.
  • Send follow-up communications to patients as needed.
  • Assist in data entry into the clinics' EMR system
  • Conduct vitals of patients, phlebotomy, and EKG, and shipping of blood samples.
  • Ensure you communicate with your supervisor about any projects and ideas before any decision to initiate development is made.
  • Ensure all Clinic and office supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Attend health fairs, support projects at our partner clinics and consulates when needed.

  • Consent patients into a clinical trials
  • schedule follow-up visits
  • Recruit clinical research patients from the office database and community events
  • Same-day data entry of research results.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medical Assistant license. Which must be kept active.
  • Very organized
  • Fast learner
  • Ability to successfully adapt to a constantly changing environment;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a community clinic setting
  • Must be able to utilize computer applications such as Microsoft Office or other web-based systems;
  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Be friendly and engaging and demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Be extremely motivated and self-starter.
  • Be able to meet deadlines.
  • Participate in occasional health fair events and community outreach activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position requires physical effort. Incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. This position involves direct contact with patients and includes performing phlebotomy procedures as needed. Occupational Health and Safety Risks include potential exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens; the candidate must always use universal precautions when handling biological samples and supplies.
