This position is ideal for an MA who enjoys working closely with providers, interacting with patients, and contributing to the growth of a young practice.Position SummaryThis is a hybrid Medical Assistant role that combines clinical MA responsibilities with front office coordination and patient relations. You will support providers during patient visits while also serving as a key point of contact for patients before and after their appointments.In addition, this role includes opportunities to support patient engagement, referral coordination, and community outreach efforts as the practice continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs and relevant clinical information.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits and procedures as appropriate.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Support patient flow and clinical efficiency throughout the clinic day
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and clinical areas in compliance with office standards.
Front Office Operations
- Greet and check in patients with professionalism and warmth.
- Manage appointment scheduling, patient calls, and messages using a VoIP phone system and EMR.
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility using centralized and payer-specific portals.
- Collect copayments, process billing-related information, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Coordinate referrals and support follow-up scheduling.
Patient Service & Retention
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure a positive, patient-centered experience.
- Educate patients on the importance of follow-up visits and ongoing care.
- Reduce no-shows through proactive reminders and clear communication.
- Serve as a patient advocate and liaison between patients and providers.
Marketing & Outreach (Growth-Focused Responsibilities)
- Assist with referral coordination and relationship-building with local providers, urgent care centers, and community partners.
- Support outreach and patient engagement initiatives as the practice grows.
Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant and/or in a medical front office role (experience in a multispecialty or growing practice preferred).
- Strong clinical skills including patient rooming, vitals, and EMR documentation.
- Solid experience with scheduling, insurance verification, and patient communication.
- Experience using an EMR and VoIP phone system (Practice Fusion experience preferred but not required).
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in a dynamic practice environment.
- Team-oriented with a professional, patient-first approach.
Schedule
- Full-time: 4-5 days per week (approximately 30--40 hours)
- Flexible scheduling within standard weekday office hours
- No weekends or major holiday
