Performs the primary functions of a Medical Assistant (MA). MA responsibilities include escorting patients to exam rooms, recording vital signs and other clinical data, and assisting with procedures per physician orders. Works to facilitate processes with other departments, personnel, and insurance companies to coordinate patient care. Answers phones, schedules patient appointments, test scheduling, pre-certifications and referrals. Maintains a pleasant, efficient, and well-organized working environment. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities:

Responsible for rooming patients, including recording vital signs, medications, allergies, and other clinical data.

Performs EKGs and point of care testing. Administers medications and vaccinations per physician orders.

Performs office duties to include, but not limited to answering phones, directing phone calls, taking and relaying messages appropriately.

Schedules outpatient tests and procedures, obtains necessary insurance authorization, and provides patients with instructions.

Coordinates patient flow by scheduling appointments, registering patients upon arrival, confirming demographic information and insurance, confirming or obtaining referrals as appropriate, and collecting copays.

Performs other work duties as assigned.
Employee is required to sit and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently, a medium (21-50 lbs.) and/or heavy (50 lbs. +) load occasionally. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. Employee may be required to do simple grasping and pushing/pulling.
