West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine is a rapidly growing primary care practice specializing in Family and Sports Medicine. We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant
to join our dynamic team and help provide exceptional care to our patients.

Position Overview:
Under the supervision of our providers, the Medical Assistant supports patient care by preparing patients, performing tests, assisting in treatments, and maintaining smooth office operations. This role is ideal for someone with clinical expertise, strong organizational skills, and a passion for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and prepare patients for exams and procedures.
  • Record patients’ chief complaints and document observations in medical records.
  • Take and record vital signs, height, weight, and vision tests.
  • Perform clinical tests as directed, including EKGs, non-stress tests, spirometry, venipuncture, skin punctures, strep screens, glucometer checks, and urine tests.
  • Assist providers with treatments and exams, such as injections, wound care, and pelvic exams.
  • Identify psychosocial needs of patients and communicate with providers as necessary.
  • Prepare referral forms, prescriptions, insurance authorizations, disability forms, and employment physical documentation.
  • Maintain patient rooms and labs, ensuring they are fully stocked with supplies.
  • Transcribe provider orders and complete requisitions, forms, and pharmacy calls.
  • Follow up on messages and notify patients of provider-ordered changes.
  • Ensure daily chart, lab, prescription, and diagnostic sign-offs by providers.
  • Manage patient flow after check-in and prepare charts for the next day’s appointments.
  • Communicate abnormal lab results to providers and document all patient phone calls.
  • May assist multiple providers simultaneously.
  • Comply with office policies, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited Florida-approved institution or
    a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in a healthcare setting with direct patient contact.
  • Combination of education, training, and experience that meets the above standards is acceptable.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong clinical knowledge including HEDIS, injections, EKG, and phlebotomy.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (eClinical Works preferred).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
