Medical Assistant / Medical Scribe

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to act as a Medical Scribe & Surgical Assistant in our private practice dermatology office. Full time (34-38 hours/ week), M-F, rarely Saturdays.

The ideal candidate will take the initial history then scribe with pen and paper (no EMR) the medical note (exam, impression and plan) as dictated from Dr. Harrison. In addition, the Medical Assistant will set up and assist with skin biopsies, excisions and in Mohs skin cancer removal and repair, and skin laser work.

The direct one-on-one patient interaction is very rewarding as patients are very grateful for the care we give. We have a warm and enjoyable medical office.

Duties

• Scribe by hand and accurately document the patient history, examinations, diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Learn a finite number of medications and common chart entries. We will train on the specifics of the job.
• Assist in biopsies and skin surgery.
• Set up for procedures, clean instruments.
• Be meticulous and accurate.
• Return calls to patients, call in prescriptions to pharmacies, and assist in prior authorizations. Cross train to other duties in our office.
• Be a team player by doing tasks assigned.
• Be professional and helpful in all interactions with our patients.

Requirements

• Pleasant personality with a good work ethic.
• Strong writing skills and command of the English language.
• Be able to assist in skin surgery (not faint at the sight of blood) and be able to wear gloves.
• Previous experience in a clinical setting is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and collaboration within a healthcare team.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
