Florida Heart & Vascular is seeking an experienced, motivated Medical Assistant / Medical Scribe to support our Cardiologists and Electrophysiologists across multiple office locations in Broward County. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with physicians in a specialty practice while gaining exposure to advanced cardiac diagnostics, cardiac implantable devices, electrophysiology, and cardiovascular disease management.

This role is ideal for an experienced Medical Assistant, Medical Scribe, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), EMT, Paramedic, nursing student, pre-med student, or healthcare professional seeking to expand their clinical experience in a highly specialized environment.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant / Scribe serves as an integral member of the clinical care team by supporting physicians with patient flow, documentation, diagnostic testing, prescription management, and coordination of care. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, professionalism, compassion, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Accurately document patient encounters in real time during physician visits using the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, medication reconciliations, and chief complaints
  • Prepare patients for cardiology and electrophysiology evaluations
  • Perform 12-lead ECGs and assist with Holter monitors, event monitors, ambulatory cardiac monitoring, and device-related workflows
  • Review patient charts prior to appointments and ensure laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic testing results are available
  • Process prescription refill requests under the physicians orders and assist with patient communications
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments
  • Assist providers with office-based procedures and patient education
  • Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring HIPAA compliance
  • Travel between practice locations as needed to support operational and patient care needs
  • Participate in cross-training and support overall clinical operations

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of medical office experience
  • Strong medical terminology knowledge
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems
  • Excellent typing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between office locations

Preferred

  • Cardiology or electrophysiology experience
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
  • Medical scribing experience
  • Experience with cardiac devices including pacemakers, ICDs, loop recorders, and remote monitoring
  • Athenahealth experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
