Medical Assistant Needed for a Part-Time Position in Mobile AL

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team in Mobile, AL. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in clinical support and patient care to contribute to outpatient services across various specialties, including Addiction Medicine, psychiatry, urgent care, and hospital medicine. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical knowledge, excellent patient service skills, and familiarity with EHR systems. Prior experience in hospital or trauma center settings is highly valued. Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
  • Measure and record vital signs accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Support physicians and healthcare providers with medical procedures such as medication administration, basic X-ray operations, and specimen collection
  • Document clinical notes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with precision
  • Assist with ICD coding and documentation for billing purposes
  • Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and post-care instructions
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling medical supplies
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams across outpatient clinics, emergency departments, or inpatient units

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, or trauma centers (Level I or Level II trauma experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), or surgical patients (medical-surgical or OR experience) is advantageous
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions
  • Ability to perform vital signs collection accurately and efficiently
  • Strong patient service orientation with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or emergency medicine units
  • Flexibility to work part-time hours with availability for scheduled shifts in outpatient or inpatient settings
