Position Summary

The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting orthopedic physicians and care teams by providing both direct and indirect patient care. This position combines clinical, administrative, and clerical responsibilities to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and an excellent patient experience.

This is an at-will position.

Key Responsibilities

Support providers with clinical and administrative duties to ensure smooth clinic operations
Room patients and collect clinical information, including chief complaints, vital signs, and medication reconciliation
Assist with procedures and treatments under provider supervision, including injections
Maintain accurate patient records and document test results in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Assist with patient scheduling, referrals, correspondence, and arranging ancillary services
Answer phones, greet patients, and provide excellent customer service
Send electronic prescriptions to providers for approval and communicate test results to patients as directed
Help manage patient flow to keep providers on schedule
Maintain exam rooms, order supplies as needed, and ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Use and understand medical terminology related to orthopedic care
Attend required meetings, training sessions, and continuing education
Perform other duties as assigned based on clinic needs
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Prior medical training or clinical experience
CPR Certification (required)
Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and internet use
Knowledge of medical office practices, exam room procedures, and clinical equipment

Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
Commitment to HIPAA compliance and patient privacy
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull throughout the day
Ability to lift 25 pounds or more on occasion

Preferred (But Not Required)

Experience in an orthopedic or specialty clinic
Medical Assistant certification
Previous experience administering injections
