We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team in a phone triage-focused role, serving as a key point of contact for patients and supporting efficient clinical operations.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first line of communication for patient calls, messages, and portal inquiries
- Perform basic clinical triage using established protocols and escalate appropriately to providers
- Process prescription refill requests in coordination with providers and pharmacies
- Schedule patient appointments based on urgency and clinical need
- Communicate test results, instructions, and follow-up plans per provider direction
- Document all patient interactions accurately in the EMR
- Support care coordination and ensure timely resolution of patient needs
What You Bring
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA/RMA preferred) or equivalent clinical experience
- Prior experience in primary care or internal medicine strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of basic clinical terminology and workflows
- Excellent phone presence and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail with accurate documentation habits
- Experience with EMR systems (Athena experience a plus)
