Job Overview

Cottonwood Counseling is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting with clinical tasks, supporting medication management, and ensuring smooth daily operations in our growing outpatient mental health practice.

We specialize in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and grief, and are looking for someone who brings professionalism, warmth, and steady energy to a behavioral health setting.

Duties

• Assist psychiatric provider with patient intake, gathering medical histories, and documenting in EHR
• Measure and record vital signs (BP, pulse, respirations, temperature)
• Prepare patients for examinations and support medication management appointments
• Assist with medication administration under provider supervision (including injections as appropriate)
• Coordinate prior authorizations, labs, and pharmacy communication
• Manage ICD coding, scheduling, and accurate chart documentation
• Support emergency procedures, including BLS protocols if needed
• Provide general medical administrative and front office support

Experience & Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant preferred
• Experience in psychiatric mental health, behavioral health, or outpatient medical clinic strongly preferred
• Proficiency with EHR systems
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Familiarity with ICD coding practices
• BLS certification preferred
• Strong organizational skills and strict HIPAA compliance
• Spanish speaking a plus

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
