Job Summary
Join our psychiatry practice as a Medical Assistant, where your contributions will directly support high-quality patient care and efficient clinical operations. In this role, you will provide essential support across both front and back office functions, assisting providers and patients while helping ensure a seamless, organized, and compassionate experience. Your skills in clinical procedures, patient service, administrative coordination, and phone communication will play a key role in delivering exceptional mental health care in a professional and welcoming environment.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting accurate medical histories, vital signs, and current medications using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining confidentiality
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as administering medications, conducting EKGs, supporting TMS sessions, and following medication administration protocols
- Support providers during psychiatric assessments by documenting notes, managing documentation, and updating patient records
- Conduct routine clinical procedures, including vital signs measurement and basic physiological assessments, while ensuring proper infection control practices
- Coordinate appointment scheduling, follow-up calls, and patient reminders to optimize clinic flow
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and route messages appropriately
- Provide front desk support, including patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and payment collection as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas, including exam rooms and supply inventory management
Experience
- Proven experience supporting outpatient psychiatric or medical clinics with a focus on patient service and clinical assistance
- Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and scheduling purposes
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication protocols related to mental health care
- Prior experience working in outpatient clinics is highly desirable
- Experience with intake procedures, vital signs collection
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is required
- Demonstrated ability to handle diverse patient populations, including geriatrics and children
