Medical Assistant – Pulmonary Medicine

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Medical Assistant to join our busy and patient-focused Pulmonary Medicine practice. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment while delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

- Room and prepare patients for physician evaluation

- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication reconciliation, and allergies

- Assist physicians with pulmonary office procedures and patient care activities

- Coordinate and schedule diagnostic testing including Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), Home Sleep Studies, Imaging studies, and Laboratory testing

- Process referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance verifications

- Manage prescription refills and medication prior authorizations, including biologic therapies

- Coordinate with DME vendors for CPAP, oxygen, nebulizers, and other respiratory equipment

- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for documentation and patient communication

- Provide patient education and discharge instructions

- Handle telephone triage and patient inquiries professionally and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

- Minimum 2-3 years of Medical Assistant experience (Pulmonary, Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, or Primary Care preferred)

- Knowledge of pulmonary and respiratory diseases

- Experience with EMR systems

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

- Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred but not required

- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
