About the Role:
Join Herrera Orthopaedics as a Medical Assistant & Scribe. This position works directly with the physician and supports patient care, documentation, and surgical coordination. Responsibilities include assisting during visits, completing office notes, managing patient flow, and handling both clinical and administrative tasks within the office.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the physician during patient examinations, injections, and procedures
- Perform real-time scribe duties during patient visits, including drafting, finalizing, and proofreading office notes
- Manage patient flow, including post-operative visits and injection scheduling
- Prepare injections and maintain inventory of clinical supplies
- Coordinate pre-operative clearance and communicate with outside providers to ensure timely approvals
- Assist with surgical scheduling, bookings, and collection of required documentation
- Provide patients with clear pre- and post-operative instructions and ongoing support
- Organize, audit, and prepare medical records for narrative reports and case summaries
- Act as a liaison between the physician, patients, and referral sources
- Maintain exam rooms and ensure readiness, cleanliness, and workflow efficiency
- Travel to satellite office locations a minimum of twice per month as needed
- Support daily office operations by following established workflows and procedures
- Ensure full compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college (minimum 2 years) and Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) required for effective patient communication
- 2 years prior experience in a medical office, orthopaedic setting, or clinical environment
- Prior medical scribe experience required; must be able to accurately document patient encounters in real time
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, G Suite, and EHR systems
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
- Excellent communication skills with a warm, patient-centered approach
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently without micromanagement
- Flexible mindset with willingness to support both clinical and administrative functions
