Medical Assistant/Receptionist

Job Summary

Your expertise in medical procedures, administrative support, and familiarity with diverse medical environments—including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, outpatient clinics, and emergency medicine—will ensure smooth daily operations. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Collect and record vital signs, patient histories, and other relevant information to support accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Prepare exam rooms by ensuring cleanliness and proper supplies; assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, and assisting with medication administration when appropriate.
  • Support clinical documentation by coding diagnoses with ICD codes accurately and updating patient records efficiently.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, patient intake processes, and follow-up communications to optimize clinic flow.
  • Handle administrative duties including answering phones, managing patient inquiries, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized records.
  • Assist with specialized procedures such as X-ray imaging or inpatient care support in hospital settings or Level I/II trauma centers when required.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams across outpatient clinics, hospital units like PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Geriatrics departments, or medical-surgical wards to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a clinical setting with exposure to dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine environments.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology principles relevant to outpatient and inpatient care settings.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and appointment management; experience with ICD coding is preferred.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
  • Excellent patient service skills combined with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations.
  • Prior hospital experience or clinic experience in medical-surgical units or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, intake procedures, vital signs collection, medication administration support, X-ray procedures, and emergency protocols enhances your effectiveness in this role.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced outpatient or inpatient environments such as Geriatrics clinics or PICU units; familiarity with OR (Operating Room) procedures is a plus. Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
