We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support within a medium-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage both clinical and administrative responsibilities efficiently. Experience in optometry/ ophthalmology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient settings is highly valued, along with familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in procedures, including intake forms and insurance verification
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks including specimen collection, medication administration, and basic life support when necessary
- Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately and efficiently
- Schedule appointments, follow-up visits,
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety protocols
- Handle administrative duties such as answering phones, managing patient records, and processing billing or coding as needed
- Assist in optical sales and frame/lens ordering/data entry.
Experience
- Prior experience in medical settings such as Optometry/Ophthalmology is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, medication administration, and emergency medicine procedures
- Experience working with EHR systems and managing patient service workflows, Acuity Logic or Eyefinity Practice Management is a plus.
- Proven ability to provide compassionate patient care.
