Job Overview
As a Medical Biller, you will play a vital role in the healthcare system by ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services. You will be responsible for processing patient information, submitting claims to insurance companies, and managing accounts receivable. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology will be key in facilitating smooth financial operations within the medical office.

What you’ll do

• Process and submit claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes, including ICD-9 and ICD-10.
• Review patient records and ensure all necessary documentation is complete for billing purposes.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in medical records or billing information.
• Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving any issues related to payment.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to maintain accurate patient billing information.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with the collections department to manage outstanding balances effectively.

Basic qualifications

• Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) methodologies.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems for efficient data management.
• Knowledge of medical collection processes and best practices.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for details.
