Medical Biller

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely reimbursement from insurance companies and patients. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, coding systems, and medical records management. The Medical Biller plays a vital part in maintaining the financial health of our practice while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems and medical terminology is highly valued.

Duties

• Prepare and submit insurance claims using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding standards
• Review and verify patient information and medical records for billing accuracy
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate collections and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities within EMR/EHR systems
• Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures
• Manage accounts receivable and perform collections on overdue accounts
• Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations related to billing and coding
• Update and maintain accurate medical records related to billing transactions
• Assist in auditing billing processes to improve efficiency and accuracy

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures and collection processes
• Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG classification systems
• Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
• Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records management
• Ability to interpret and apply medical coding standards accurately
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance companies
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to billing practices
• Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required
