Qualifications

Experience in medical billing for an OB/GYN medical practice is required.

Experience with medical coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9) is required.

Proficiency in using medical office systems and software for billing purposes.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.

Knowledge of billing procedures of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers and understanding of financial billing requirements.

Knowledge of organization structure, workflow and operating procedures within a high-volume medical billing environment.

Knowledge of Federal, State and payer regulations regarding medical billing compliance.

Knowledge of mainframe-based medical billing and editing systems.

Skill in keyboarding and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships.

Skill in listening to others, assessing situations and solving problems.

Ability to display customer focus and professionalism and to exhibit team-building skills.

Education, Certification And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

3-5 years of experience within medical billing, collections, and/or reimbursement.

OB/GYN Medical billing: 2 years (Required).

Process and manage medical billing claims accurately and efficiently.

Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 to ensure proper billing practices.

Answer patient phone calls and answer patient questions concerning their billing statements.

Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness, addressing discrepancies as needed.

Handle medical collections by following up on outstanding claims and payments.
