Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Payment Poster Collections Specialist to join our revenue cycle team. This role is responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments, researching payment discrepancies, and performing effective follow-up on outstanding claims to ensure full and timely reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities: Payment Posting Accurately post insurance ERA/EOB payments and patient payments into the practice management system Apply adjustments, denials, and reconcile daily deposits Review remittance advice to ensure correct payment posting Identify posting errors and resolve discrepancies Maintain accurate and organized payment records Insurance Collections / A/R Follow Up Review outstanding claims and follow up with insurance payers to resolve unpaid or underpaid claims Investigate and correct claim denials, missing information, and coding related issues Communicate with insurance representatives to clarify claim status and required documentation Resubmit corrected claims as needed Work aging reports to meet monthly A/R and collection goals General Duties Respond to patient inquiries regarding balances, payments, and billing issues Collaborate with billing, coding, and front office teams to improve payment accuracy Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory guidelines

Qualifications: High school graduate 1–3 years of experience in medical billing, payment posting, or collections Strong understanding of EOBs, ERAs, claim life cycles, and insurance terminology Experience working with practice management systems (e.g., Athena, Epic, EXA, Medisoft or similar) Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and basic coding concepts Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills Strong communication and problem-solving abilities Persistent, motivated and team orientated

Preferred Skills: Medical Billing/Coding Certification Experience with both professional (physician) and facility billing Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer rules Bilingual - Spanish
