We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Biller/Collector to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper medical coding and billing accuracy.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collection strategies, including patient outreach and insurance negotiations.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payment histories, and collection efforts within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with medical staff to clarify billing information and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, insurance policies, and coding changes to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursements.
- Generate reports on billing performance, outstanding accounts receivable, and collection metrics regularly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding systems including CPT, ICD-10, ICD coding, DRG classifications, and medical coding principles.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and billing purposes.
- Excellent understanding of insurance processes, claim submission procedures, and patient account management.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for proper billing.
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all transactions.
