Medical Biller/Collector

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Biller/Collector to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing and collection processes for medical services, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement from insurance companies, patients, and other payers. Duties

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 to insurance providers and government agencies.
• Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding accuracy for billing purposes.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, communicating effectively with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.
• Collect outstanding balances from patients through phone calls, emails, or payment plans while providing excellent customer service.
• Maintain detailed records of all billing activities, payments received, and collection efforts within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing details and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to medical records or coding.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and ICD coding systems.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and record-keeping.
• Excellent understanding of insurance processes, including claim submission, adjudication, denials, and appeals.
• Ability to interpret medical records accurately and assign appropriate codes efficiently.
• Exceptional communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
