Medical Biller/Collector

Job Summary
Hands of Hope Behavioral Health, LLC are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller/Collector to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately processing medical claims, managing collections, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies and patients. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, coding systems, and medical records management. The Medical Biller/Collector will play a vital part in maintaining the financial health of the practice while providing excellent service to patients and insurance providers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using checkpoint or shared notes.
• Review and verify medical records for completeness and correctness before billing.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate timely collections.
• Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and resolve discrepancies.
• Collect outstanding balances from patients through phone calls, letters, or electronic communication.
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities within systems.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and billing policies.
• Assist in updating patient information and medical records as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in billing and collections within a mental healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of mental health medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical records management.
• Excellent understanding of medical office procedures and insurance claim processes.
• Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Prior experience with mental health billing software is preferred.
• Knowledge of mental health care regulations related to billing and collections is a plus.

Pay: $12.00 - $17.00 per hour
