Responsibilities
- Review and code mental health patient records using ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to ensure precise billing.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies via Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, minimizing denials and delays.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility to facilitate seamless billing processes.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections efforts while maintaining professional communication with payers.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records, including documentation of diagnoses, procedures, and treatment details aligned with medical terminology standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or coding questions to optimize reimbursement.
- Stay updated on changes in coding regulations, payer policies, and compliance standards relevant to mental health billing practices.
