Duties

  • Review medical records and documentation to accurately assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG classifications.
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring timely processing.
  • Verify insurance coverage, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and perform medical collections when necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and coding standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and optimize reimbursement accuracy.
  • Stay current with updates in ICD coding systems, CPT coding guidelines, and DRG classifications to ensure compliance.
  • Support billing audits by providing detailed reports on coding accuracy and claim status.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
  • Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards.
  • Experience with medical billing processes, including claim submission and follow-up procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical collection practices and insurance reimbursement workflows.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR platforms for efficient record management.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure precise coding and billing accuracy.
