Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance providers. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle operations, improve patient record accuracy, and support the overall efficiency of our healthcare services. Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for diagnoses and procedures.
  • Ensure all coding aligns with current medical coding standards, regulations, and payer requirements.
  • Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to facilitate prompt reimbursement.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation reflects accurate coding and billing information.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related healthcare role with familiarity in medical office procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, as well as DRG classifications.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for medical records management and billing processes.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
  • Experience with medical collection processes and insurance claim submission protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in coding and billing tasks.

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
