The Center for Sleep Medicine is seeking an experienced Billing and Revenue Cycle Manager. This position is a working manager role, responsible for overseeing billing and revenue cycle operations across our organization.
This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement, managing the billing team, and supporting excellent patient service while maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
The Billing and Revenue Cycle Manager partners closely with clinical staff, scheduling, and leadership to support financial performance and continuous improvement.
Full-Time Schedule: Monday - Thursday (8 AM - 6 PM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, onboard, and supervise billing staff to ensure accurate and timely revenue cycle operations.
- Oversee end-to-end revenue cycle workflows (financial clearance, charge capture/coding coordination, claim submission, payment posting, denials/appeals, patient collections) to ensure timely, accurate reimbursement.
- Oversee insurance verification, authorizations, and patient eligibility processes
- Working knowledge of CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 as applicable to sleep studies and DME; collaborate with clinical staff to ensure documentation supports billed services.
- Maintain working knowledge of commercial and Medicare billing guidelines.
- Submit insurance claims and manage follow‑up, appeals, and additional documentation.
- Process insurance and patient payments and manage refunds as needed
- Track and improve Days in A/R, % A/R > 90 days, denial rate, appeal overturn rate, clean claim rate, cash collections.
- Respond to patient billing inquiries with professionalism and strong customer service.
- Maintain accurate payment documentation for accounting and audit purposes.
- Review payer payments for underpayments and support contract variance follow-up/escalations.
- Monitor fee schedules, reimbursement trends, and out‑of‑pocket pricing.
- Create and distribute weekly billing and revenue cycle reports.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify revenue improvement and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Assist with payer credentialing and maintain EMR and EDI accuracy.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent healthcare revenue cycle experience.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) and experience with EDI/ERA workflows; experience with Aprima preferred but not necessary.
- Three to five years of healthcare billing or revenue cycle experience required.
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred. Experience with sleep medicine or DME billing strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Medicare guidelines and payer authorization requirements.
- Revenue cycle or coding certification preferred.
- Advanced organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
