Medical Billing & Coding Specialist I

Job Overview

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Medical Billing & Coding Specialist I in the Financial Services Department. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to four (4) months.

Responsible for generating, reviewing, processing and resolving medical insurance claims and medical unlikely edits related to ambulatory care clinic charge and capture within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for the purpose of appropriate reimbursement billing and re-billing for healthcare services delivered and compliance with Federal and State regulations according to established ICD-10 diagnosis coding and CPT-4 procedure coding classifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school in medical billing and coding; OR
  • High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum or two (2) post high-school course study classes in medical billing Electronic Medical Records system; AND
  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience in billing, charge administration, charge audit, or charge capture activities, or other functions related to revenue cycle activities; AND
  • One (1) year of work experience in varied clerical administrative support.
  • Medical staff credentialing experience is desirable.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations :

  • Position may require specialized skills, experience, certification, or other requirements which will be identified by the hiring authority at time of recruitment.
