Medical Billing Coordinator

Position Description:

The focus of this role is to perform billing and collection activities related to follow-up and account resolution, and includes respectful communication to patients, clients, reimbursement vendors, and other external entities while adhering to all Positive Recovery, state, and federal guidelines.

Essential Functions:

§ Obtain payment from third party payers and self-pay accounts to enhance cash flow and gather reimbursement based on established contracts.

§ Use collection tools effectively to ensure quality recovery services and meet or exceed established goals and work standards.

§ Handle inbound patient and/or carrier calls promptly and professionally by providing assistance and resolution to account inquiries, issues and requests.

§ Perform research and analysis of account issues and strive to resolve problems timely and accurately.

§ Promote positive patient relations by communicating in a manner that demonstrates respect for the human dignity of patients and/or their families.

§ You will act as a liaison and administer contracts in collection of third-party accounts.

§ Cross-train in various departments allowing familiarity with all aspects of patient accounting functions as they relate to collections.

§Obtain authorizations for patients in treatments and provide insurance benefits through financial counseling.

§ Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

§ Two (2) year minimum healthcare experience with collection required.

§ Basic understanding of insurance terminology (out-of-network benefits vs. in-network benefits, as well as coinsurance, co-pays, and deductibles), in addition to general billing practices.

§ Possess excellent customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate through verbal and digital communications.

§ Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, with previous experience using an electronic health record program.
