Medical Billing Coordinator

LoCicero Health has an opening for a full-time medical billing coordinator who will play a key role in preparing, submitting, and following up on claims in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical billing practices, insurance guidelines, and exceptional attention to detail and data entry skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims (electronic and paper), ensuring compliance with payer requirements
• Verify insurance coverage
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness before claim submission
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, initiate appeals, and resolve billing discrepancies
• Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately in the electronic billing system
• Communicate professionally with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff to resolve billing issues
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements at all times
• Generate reports on claim status and account aging as requested
• Maintain up to date knowledge of insurance requirements and referral procedures
• Assist patients with questions or concerns regarding referrals and authorizations
• Support providers and other office staff with referral-related administrative needs as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

• Associate’s degree required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, including experience working with electronic billing software
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
• Understanding of insurance claim procedures and payer guidelines
• Knowledge of HIPAA and medical billing compliance standards
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, providers, and payers
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
