LoCicero Health has an opening for a full-time medical billing coordinator who will play a key role in preparing, submitting, and following up on claims in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical billing practices, insurance guidelines, and exceptional attention to detail and data entry skills.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims (electronic and paper), ensuring compliance with payer requirements
- Verify insurance coverage
- Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness before claim submission
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, initiate appeals, and resolve billing discrepancies
- Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately in the electronic billing system
- Communicate professionally with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff to resolve billing issues
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements at all times
- Generate reports on claim status and account aging as requested
- Maintain up to date knowledge of insurance requirements and referral procedures
- Assist patients with questions or concerns regarding referrals and authorizations
- Support providers and other office staff with referral-related administrative needs as required
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Associate’s degree required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, including experience working with electronic billing software
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Understanding of insurance claim procedures and payer guidelines
- Knowledge of HIPAA and medical billing compliance standards
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, providers, and payers
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
