Duties

• Review and analyze medical bills, insurance claims, and patient accounts to identify discrepancies or errors.
• Negotiate outstanding balances with insurance companies, third-party payers, and patients to reach fair settlement agreements.
• Collaborate with medical offices to verify coding accuracy, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
• Assist in resolving complex billing issues related to medical coding, medical records, and insurance denials.
• Maintain detailed documentation of negotiations, communications, and adjustments within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Stay informed about updates in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
• Support the collection process by following up on unpaid claims and managing accounts receivable effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, medical coding, or healthcare collections.
• Strong knowledge of DRG classifications, CPT coding, ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems to access and update patient information accurately.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with payers and patients.
• Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and resolve billing disputes efficiently.
