• Prepare and submit medical claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
• Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding accuracy aligned with medical terminology and coding standards.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to input data, track claims status, and update patient information.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients to facilitate timely collections.
• Maintain comprehensive medical billing records, including detailed documentation of all transactions, adjustments, and collections.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing details or resolve discrepancies related to medical records or coding errors.
• Stay current with industry regulations, updates in ICD coding systems, and best practices in medical billing and collections.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding procedures.
• Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical records management.
• Experience working with EMR or EHR systems is essential for efficient data entry and claim processing.
• Knowledge of insurance procedures, claim adjudication processes, and medical collection strategies.
• Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and apply appropriate codes accordingly.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure compliance and reduce errors.
